Cinnamon Bun Day!

Today in Sweden is Kanelbullens Dag, or cinnamon bun day! I figured it was only right that I respect the traditions of the country that I reside and dutifully went to our local bakery in Kungsholmen to try one. I don't think the woman behind the counter could believe that I only wanted one!

I saw the sign on the front window the day before, but as it was in Swedish I didn't realise it was trying to tell me that the following day was Cinnamon Bun day. A friend had to tell me on Facebook!

I always like to look up reviews of places before I go to them and started looking up a review of the bakery as I was standing outside, but after seeing several people approaching the front door, I eagerly picked up my pace and joined the queue.

I marched off to my local coffee shop Wilmer Kaffebar, sat in the dimly lit room out the back, ordered a latte and sunk into the arm chair to enjoy my book 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' and dive into my cinnamon bun!

This was my first experience of a cinnamon bun, Swedish or otherwise. It had nice fluffiness to it and it was pretty fresh. It had rocks of sugar on top and swirls of cinnamon on the inside. I think I will have to add cinnamon buns to my list of things to compare at different bakeries around Stockholm (as well as meatballs!)
